Check out Wal-Mart’s holiday toy sale.
The holiday season is starting earlier this year in Bentonville, Arkansas, as the world’s largest retailer began cutting prices on toys in its stores, even as retailers worry that parents may be extra careful while toy shopping this year after the recent rash of toy recalls.
“It’s a little bit earlier and a little bit deeper,” Laura Phillips, Wal-Mart’s chief toy officer told Reuters about this year’s toy discounting policy. She also said the company had increased orders of “made-in-the-USA” toys.
So far, this year’s holiday season lacks one dominant hot toy, like last year’s T.M.X. Elmo, but the retailer is hoping the latest version of the plush red monster will lure the crowds just the same.
