The rebates are attached to your ssn number no matter whether you are single or married. When the media announced that married people filing joint returns would receive $1200 dollars, NO ONE explained that it would be assigned by Social Security Number. So the husband and wife would receive $600 dollars each according to their last 4 digits of their SSN. Which could be weeks apart. No wonder the IRS was behind the eight ball here and no wonder it is costing the tax payers more money to do this. Talk about an administration that is so behind the times!
