Check Out Line: Cancer in a can?

June 9, 2010

Check out what’s sitting in that can of soup.

It’s bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical inside some plastics that can leach into water or food over time.

FOODS/CHEMCIALS-CANSIt has been linked in some studies of rats and mice to not only cancer but also obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

A Reuters Special Report goes into detail about BPA.

Plastic baby bottles with BPA have gotten a lot of press, but one researcher said the exposure from canned foods is “Far more extensive.”

Just one more thing to worry about when you are eating.
