NEW YORK (Reuters) – T-Mobile US hopes to win over Leap Wireless customers by competing for them “the old fashioned way,” a top executive for T-Mobile US said on Tuesday.
Some analysts had speculated that T-Mobile or another company could make a counteroffer for Leap, after AT&T Inc’s proposed purchase of Leap for $1.2 billion, or $15 per share.

Co on Monday appointed three big-name directors,
including former Microsoft Corp software chief Raymond
Ozzie and former McDonald’s Corp Chief Executive James
Skinner, as the struggling PC maker searches for a chairman and
addresses top-level stumbles of past years.
The PC maker, which has been trying to strengthen its board
after years of leadership calamities, also named Robert Bennett,
former CEO of Liberty Media Corp and said it will
continue searching for more directors. It is also looking for a
permanent nonexecutive chairman to succeed Ralph Whitworth, who
holds the position on an interim basis.

The announcement came just a day after SoftBank Corp (9984.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) closed its $21.6 billion purchase of 78 percent of Sprint and two days after Sprint closed its buyout of Clearwire Corp, which has a vast amount of wireless airwaves licenses.
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Nokia on Thursday introduced a new smartphone, the Lumia 1020, with a powerful 41-megapixel camera in its latest bid to catch up with rivals Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Apple Inc.
Many tech bloggers applauded the model’s camera after Chief Executive Stephen Elop demonstrated features including “floating lens” technology that adjusts for camera shake and six-lens optics that help produce sharper images.

every six months and it unveiled a family plan for prepaid
customers as it moves to lure customers away from its three
Verizon Wireless , AT&T Inc and Sprint
Nextel Corp offer phone discounts in exchange for tying
customers to two year contracts and typically do not allow phone
upgrades during that period.
