Manchester United’s title win — your views

Giggs holds the Premier League trophySir Alex Ferguson says Manchester United will go bouncing into the Champions League final after they secured the Premier League title with a 2-0 win over Wigan on Sunday.

Ferguson, understandably feeling pretty pleased, also more or less ruled out retiring even if United go on to celebrate a double with victory over Chelsea in Moscow later this month.

United played the best attacking football in England this season so it’s hard to argue that they didn’t deserve the title, and it was great to see Ryan Giggs, on a record-equalling day, come off the bench to put the finishing touches to the win.

But is Ferguson right in thinking this will give United a significant advantage going into the Champions League final? Winning titles is infectious, but then again, they may just find it tough to take their minds off Chelsea’s victory over them last month.

What do you reckon? Are United worthy champions? Will they go on and add the Champions League to Ferguson’s already fantastic honours board? Or can Chelsea come back from this?

also fitting that ronaldo scored as well I think. He really has made the difference. Without him I think Chelsea would have won easily.

I was cheering United on, cos they´re a much more interesting side than chelsea, but i´m getting worried about them catching up to liverpool in the number of titles. maybe next year…

United are the highest scoring team, they allow the fewest goals and are entertaining to watch……how can you ask for a more deserving champion?

ManUtd deserved it. They were playing some wonderful football this season. I was watching the game, and keep myself updated with what happening at Stamford Bridge. I was very happy, when Giggs scored the second one at 81th minute. By, then I knewed MAnChester UniTed is d ChampiOn of England…and the are worth Champions…

Some people are claiming that the ref did us some favors today, but while Ferdinand’s pseudo-handball may have warranted a penalty, the sloppy two-footed tackle from Boyce on Scholes warranted a second for United. I think the two balanced each other out. And Scholes also shouldn’t have been sent off for a shoulder barge, I think Steve Bennett got things about right on the day.

Face the facts- United are the deserved champions. The title wasn’t settled on goal difference it was two massive points. In the end, Chelsea couldn’t grind out another 1-0 win and that, to me, is the best metaphor that one could ask for in order to define this season. It finally caught up with them in the end. I would say that the momentum is definitely in United’s favor as Moscow looms large for both teams.

Man United definitely deserved to win today. What a way to finish the season with Ryan Giggs (my favorite player) putting the game away. Glory Man United!! We will win the double and show everyone around the world why we are the greatest football team on earth!

We fully deserved the title this season. If you disagree then you’re either a bitter Chelski fan or an idiot. We certainly wern’t lucky Tat, Chelski were lucky to even be in the running. They play crap football all season and only play well in the last month, to say Chelski would have deserved to win the title would be a joke.
You Chelski fans should consider yourselves lucky you’re even in the top 3, without Abramovich you’d be a mid table team. You haven’t worked to get where you are, you’ve been handed it on a bloody silver platter. I’ll be crying with laughter when Abramovich eventually gets bored, walks out & leaves you in a massive amount of debt.

United are well worthy of being crowned Champions, they have been the best team over the course of 38 games in the League and have played some excellent football at times.

Arsenal looked good early on and the more likely challengers but the kids at The Emirates didn’t have enough experience to sustain the challenge. They will come on am be closer next season. However, all said Man Utd were the best team.

It is also testiment that they progressed through t the Champions League final at the same time and were unlucky not to have gone further in the FA Cup. Therfeofre you can only conclude that Fergie’s squad is one of great quality and it would be no surprise to see them win the Champions League in Moscow.

The big question prior to the Champions League final kicking off is which team will want it more. Is Chelsea’s desire for revenge greater than United’s desire for double glory? I think United will just have that bit too much for Chelsea.

i really think Ryan Giggs should call it a day. he was at one point may faviroute player, but these days he jsut makes up the numbers. the guy relied on his pace and ability to run with the ball. with age he has lost that speed and his game has gone down. he has always been a poor crosser of the ball and gives away possesion.

There can be only one. One United.

Here’s hoping Terry and Drogba are fit for the final. You want the best players playing on the biggest stage, otherwise, the Champions League final will be a bigger snore than usual.
As for Giggs, it’s OK for the nostalgic, sentimental types. Just shockingly abysmal marking on his goal yesterday. That kinda passing was straight out of FIFA08 on the PS2, novice level.

Chelsea did not deserve to win the title because of the manner Mourinho was gotten rid of. It could be right to conclude that Avram Grant was backbiting Mourinho because of his access to Abramovich and the advantage of his position as a director. Such developments are not good for the game. I have never been a supporter of chelsea but I think Mourinho added value to the game/competition. Who can argue that the entire crop of players at chelsea were founded by Mourinho. Take a leaf from successful teams where managers have been maintained despite going through a bad patch.

It is a pity that Arsenal who deserved to get the second position let it go to Chelsea. They played the most entertaining football. Perhaps this a lesson to Wenger that to shift the focus from entertaining football to scoring. He should probabaly the same team but work on their approach. I think they have a very good team which needs to learn how to endure the pressure with team.

Manchester united are a great team and i’m sure they will lift the trophy once again this term.
