This game was never going to be a classic with Rangers playing their usual defensive shape of 4-1-4-1, playing 10 men behind the ball, and not really looking to win anything in normal time. Indeed in 4 of their last 5 UEFA games, they havent scored a goal during normal play.
Personally I like to see teams at least trying to look as if they want to win. Previous finals have been exciting and flowing.
Fortunately it has been a long time since the likes of 'negative' footballing teams Steau Bucharest and Red Star won anything by playing for penalties, and I hope it is a long time before I ever see such scenes again. Rangers get credit for riding their luck and getting there, but not much else. Thankfully a team won who looked like they wanted to win, irrespective of their politics, and Rangers remember have not been much better in recent years.
