Old Trafford is just the place for a maverick like Berbatov
Manchester United has proved the natural home for maverick showmen in the past and Dimitar Berbatov can become a worthy successor to those who have graced Old Trafford before him.
The 27-year-old Bulgaria captain, who joined United after two memorable years at Tottenham Hotspur, should instantly win over United fans who have previously worshipped strikers like Denis Law, George Best and Eric Cantona.
Berbatov has outstanding balance and control, is capable of devastating finishes and boasts the deftest of touches. He displayed all those qualities in Tottenham’s thrilling 6-4 Premier League win over Reading last December when he scored four times.
Among his goals was a superb shot on the turn, executed in a way that made it look simple when it was anything but, and he blasted home another shot that nearly took the net off its supports.

And he’s there. Finally.
Yep, took a while but Ferguson got his man. Not sure if we’ll see Berbatov, Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez playing together but guess these days you need the back-up. It’s certainly an impressive quartet.
Berbatov’s talents should be seen on the biggest stage so can understand his move to United. May as well hand over the title to United now because I can’t see anybody living with them now…
citeh and real mad will never be able to buy someone other than monkeys.
I think this a great buy for utd. Berbatov could be the new Vannistilroy. He has the flair and talent to light up old trafford even brighter than before. People are saying he could be the new Cantona!!.
Lets wait and see but i as for the king Eric dont hold your breath.
I think berbatov maybe a good signing for man utd, but are they going to be able to keep tevez and rooney and him happy.
It will be interesting if they will put up with the sulking of berbatov

This is a general thought on football….Transfers like this sadden me. No moe loyalty, too much player and agent power. The player has basically sulked and unlike years ago his team couldn’t afford to let him get over his “throwing the toys out of the pram” tantrum in the reserves and had to sell him. I suppose the only positive (if you can call it that) is Spurs did well to hold out until the very end and get the money they wanted.
Here’s my message to the rest of the Premier League and Europe: you can run all you want but you can’t hide from Ferguson’s Red Army!!!!
When Berbatov was at Leverkusen he looked a talent but not THAT good. He’s had two excellent seasons at Spurs but I wouldn’t bet every cent I had on him keeping it up. I have a feeling he might be good but not brilliant at United — Carlos Tevez rather than Cristiano Ronaldo, if you like.
Good signing, but it shows us all what happens when Ronaldo is injured. Lets alll face facts, Chelsea will win the league, BUT Man U for the Champions League
