Blatter and Platini sell you a car which they agree to deliver at a specified date. After you've paid your money and signed on the dotted line they tell you that the car is now a horse (or a camel) and that it'll be delivered at a time better suited to the seller. They see nothing wrong. They issue press releases, Alice style, and the word is made flesh. The World Cup is theirs to do with as they please.

They offer no reason or explanation, reasonable or otherwise, and the rest of us are supposed to bow to executive fiat at a time when executives in practically every area of public & private life have been found out and found wanting. It's starting to look like a ship of fools (in pin stripe suits).

The World Cup is NOT theirs to do with as they please. Changing the time and the venue after countries have implicitly voted on the time and venue is simply ridiculous and wrong. -Caveat emptor. Hopefully the EPL and the IOC will put a stop to their gallop.

The good news is that it is one more erratic decision from FIFA which WILL eventually precipitate its eventual reform. When big institutions get into the news with unlikely press releases, you can bet there's a lot more going on within these institutions that make their erratic announcements seem relatively mild, at least to themselves and their cohorts. La dukhan, bidun 'ar, (there's no smoke without fire).
