If we assume Fergie will stick to the 4-4-2 with Rooney and Chicharito up front, the goals in midfield with come from Nani and Young, probably Anderson too. Park can knock in a few as well, so Sneijder may not be required after all.

Utd don’t have anyone in midfield as good as Sneijder – its as simple as that. He can improve Utd and not many players out there can. Where else will the goals from midfield come from?

IMO SAF should only sign Sneijder, if Berbatov is sold.

Cleverley will be given opportunities to prove himself, even with Sneijder in the squad, i) United always have plenty of games and ii) We’re quite light in midfield at the moment, Scholes and Hargreaves both off the books – plus Pogba is probably being groomed as Hargreaves successor.

I think that SAF might also play a more fluid 4-4-2 i.e. quickly interchange to 4-3-3 (e.g. Young holding back and Nani pushing forward).
