Schumacher can finally show Hamilton and Vettel who’s boss

July 30, 2009

Just seeing Michael Schumacher back in an F1 car, especially a Ferrari, will be enough for most motor sport fans.

But the chance to watch him race against young guns Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel is something very special.

The German retired before they appeared on the scene and there have been comparisons ever since the pair got on the grid –  with compatriot Vettel even having the nickname ‘Baby Schumi’.

Will it be the case of the old master showing the young pretenders how it is done, or will 40-year-old Schumacher be taught a lesson of his own?

After a terrible start, this year’s Ferrari has been gradually improving and no one would put it past Schumacher winning one of the season’s remaining races.

Hamilton has also burst into form and if the world champion meets the sport’s greatest on the first corner, expect a bump or two.

Schumacher was never averse to a bit of rough and tumble on the race track and the Briton has also been criticised for some of his moves.

The only person who is probably not looking forward to these duels is poor Felipe Massa.

Schumi is great friends with the Brazilian though and as soon as Massa is fit to race again,  the German wil undoubtedly hand back the keys.

His long-term future though is anybody’s guess.

F1 racing was non attractive to me since Michael Schumacher did not race. Suddenly he might be back, and if he is really back, not only me but the entire world will be focused to F1. Ferrari will gain in presence even Schumacher will not win the race.

I’m already drooling over the idea of seeing Schumi in action again. I hope he can dominate a few races. That would be a dream come true. I wonder what Alonso will have to say about it though :)

I’m a big Ferrari fan and I’m very excited to see Michael back in the car. The only problem here is the car. People are saying he’s going to show the new kids what real racing is, but in all honesty, Ferrari’s current car is not up to standard w/ Vettel’s Red Bull (let alone Webber). McLaren? They’re about equal w/ Ferrari. Yes, Kimi had a great race last weekend, but that was after a few uncommon follies by other drivers. Basically, Michael will fill the stands, and get the viewers, but I’m not expecting podiums in the remaining 6 races. Maybe (hopefully) he’ll pull a win out of one of them though.
