I wonder how long Croatia can hold off this determined Italian pressure. Some great saves from the Croatian keeper, but can he keep doing that? The Croats need to get the ball down the other end more often.

And that’s that. The Croatian impenetrable wall is penetrated. The first of many to come today?

Roy Hodgson has surprised me immensely the way he has grown confidence in the England camp. With just hours to go until we face Italy in the quarter final of Euro 2012, I now believe that we can actually progress to the semi’s for an epic battle with Germany.

Being a betting man, I wasn’t keen on England’s odds prior to the start of Euro 2012, but they have pleasantly surprised me.

Germany and Spain are obviously justified favourites to win the competition, but Portugal are really coming into their own, and 20/1 pre tournament odds no look a great bet!
