Ah nuts! Under Armour recalls athletic cups
Under Armour got the kind of attention any sports-loving company would rather avoid after it recalled more than 200,000 athletic cups on fears they could break if hit and result in serious injury.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the company received five reports of cups breaking, including an injury involving “cuts and bruising.”
The news came one day after the athletic clothing and shoe maker reported a stronger-than-expected quarterly profit thanks to a new running shoe launch and a rebound in apparel sales. That news helped drive the Baltimore company’s shares up as much as 17.5 percent.
As for the faulty, Chinese-made cups, Under Armour assured customers it would take care of them.
“The recall includes all Under Armour athletic cups, regardless of size or date sold,” the company said in a statement. “Athletic cups sold together with Under Armour compression shorts, slider shorts, or jocks are also part of the recall; however, only the cup itself should be returned.”
Consumers who return the athletic cups, which were sold for about $15 each, will receive a $20 voucher.

Not surprised to hear this. My son’s soccer club (WHSA) has UA soccer uniforms, and I wish they would be recalled! The shirts had major snags and pulls after being worn two or three times, let alone the fit- shorts more suited for basketball then soccer. Fit, style, and quality lacking. I’m skipping future UA purchases myself. UA clearly needs to move some of those marketing people over to quality control.
