Obama plane lands in wrong Iowa city

November 8, 2007

From the air, one Iowa city can look a lot like another. Or so it seems.genimageaspx.jpeg

It’s not unusual for politicians to be late to their campaign events — former President Bill Clinton was legendary for running on his own clock — but Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama had an unusual excuse for his tardiness in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Tuesday evening.

The pilot landed Obama’s campaign plane in Des Moines instead of Cedar Rapids, forcing a quick take-off again to fly the 127 miles to Cedar Rapids and making his rally more than an hour late.

“What can I tell you?” Obama asked Kay Henderson of Radio Iowa on Wednesday. “Apparently our pilot’s been logging in a lot of miles.”

[…] Obama should be wary of who he criticizes. Apparently to him, all of Iowa looks the same…doesn’t matter which city he campaigns […]

Well, in fact, all of Iowa does look the same. Although I would think that if my pilot was logging so many hours that he didn’t know where he was going, I’d definitely want to give him some nap time before putting him back in the cockpit!
