B. O. Refuses to salute our flag or sing our Anthem. See the actual footage above. McCain should use this footage for one of his powerful ad’s. This speaks volumes to all Americans. He actually said this:
“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,” Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”

All those who are drinking the poison of hate spewed forth by the republican party need to answer the question asked and stop doing what they always do when they cannot give an answer to a direct question. Here it is. Why is it different what Macain said from what Mrs Obama said? Now I know this might be hard for hate to adhere to, but please THINK before you type, no hate, just give us a reason to believe you guys has the ability to Think.

McCain made a valid point which is why it hypocritical and plain silly to take one sentence Michelle Obama said and run for it. Never including what was said before or after. Just silliness and pettiness.

Neither McCain NOR Michelle should be picked apart for this sentence but of course small minds will continue to do so

The president deserves to be slammed. He is an idiot and incompetent. If his last name weren’t Bush and if his brother weren’t the governor of Florida, there’s no way this moron would’ve been elected president in the first place.

I don’t understand why people think just because you say America is not perfect you’re not patriotic. It really blows my mind. You sound fanatical. Do you know anything about your history or are you just blinded by ingnorance? This country has done good and bad. Lets please be realistic. And please understand people have different experiences in life that draw them to their conclusions. Just because life in America has been perfect for you doesn’t mean that it has for someone else. And also doesn’t mean they should move to another country if they point out this country’s faults.

I am not surprized or upset that Mr McCain has said what he said. What surprizes and upsets me is that so many people expect more from the man. The best thing that McCain ever did was to get shot down over Viet Nam. If that had never happened we would not even know his name or care if we did.
All of his political life he has gone which ever way the wind blows and right now he feels the wind blowing towards the left so that is the direction that he is leaning. What can you expect from a Republican that was entertaining the idea of becoming Mr. Swiftboats VP?
Every one has been calling him a maverick for years when in truth he is just the worst kind of professional politician. He is the kind of guy that is willing to say or do anything to achieve his own personal agenda…….More money and more power!
I really feel like thare are two empty suits in this election. But at least Obama is wearing a suit that fits!

Has America made mistakes?…sure. Will they make mistakes in the future?….sure But I am always proud of this country. Because in spite of the faults it is still a great nation. Personally, I don’t like the fact that i have to vote for McCain because Obama is COMPLETELY not acceptable to me. But he is making this very difficult. First the Global Warming speech and now this. McCain continues to cater to the left/moderates and angering the conservatives. If he continues down this path I may stay home because I don’t want either one of them.

It’s tough in some respects to be proud of your country. I don’t think this was a hasty answer, but one that took a lot of courage to give. This is obvious by some of the comments made here. For those of you who have posted here that you have “always been proud of America” I would say that I honestly don’t think that is what you meant. I don’t mean to put words in anyone’s mouth, but what I believe you were trying to say is “I have always been proud to be American”. Ofcourse I could be wrong in what I say, but that wouldn’t really suprise me too much. Americans as a nation seem to be quite self deluding. For example the guy who claimed that Mt. Rushmore is the largest manmade monument in the world. Is it just me or can the Great Wall of China be seen from space? You seem to overblow your own importance, and take extreme and sometimes plain bizarre offence when that importance is questoined. The “Freedom Fries” incident is a prime example of this, and the saddest thing is the massive majority of you would now most likely agree with the French and how they acted all those years ago. You seldom do yourselves any favours on the world stage, you call your President the leader of the free world which you must see is laughable, and not just because George Bush occupies the position at the moment. There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. Other world powers have got through their insane arrogance and come out the other side fine, apart from the British (we’re still pretty deluded ourselves) and to be fair you have 2 pretty solid and driven main party candidates. Personally I would probably prefer Obama, but then McCain at the helm would be too bad either. Just remember ya ‘aint as fly as ya think ya are, and chill out.

Proud of ones’ country? Give me a break. Try going to a foreign country and seeing the looks you get when u say you’re an American or the special menu you get,or look at the anti-american graffiti splashed everywhere. This president is not only a moron, he’s a criminal. This is the 1st time in my life that I can truly say that I am ashamed to call myself an American. The damage that has been done can only be undone by someone who truly cares about America and its’ citizens. And that person is not McCain.
