By: Eddie Fowler Tue, 21 Oct 2008 01:04:00 +0000 if Obama is elected and this country goes to hell, i will be the first to stand up and say, I told you so.

By: fbla1805 Mon, 20 Oct 2008 11:34:58 +0000 We can be grateful to Sarah Palin for transparently showing us how the Republican shell-game actually works.

She finances her re-election budget, and distributes immensely popular thousand-dollar-checks to Alaskan voters each year, from state oil revenues.

Alaska is a state that has no sales tax and no income tax to pay for their schools, roads or bridges! So where to get that money for roads, schools and bridges, after sending out the checks to guarantee her re-election?

Well, she and McCain do fling at us their zingy, “mavericky” promise to end the earmark-system of pork-barrel-politics.

But a look at their actual record proves they are the QUEEN and KING of PORK, picking the pockets and wallets of taxpayers around the country on behalf of their corporate friends and allies.

Palin just covers what Alaskans don’t pay in taxes by using lobbyists to help her grab Federal tax revenues instead:
–to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars as Alaskan Gov., which includes pocketing the many millions earmarked for the Bridge to Nowhere (flip-flopping for it before she was against it),
–-and even to the tune of millions in US taxpayers’ money harvested in Washington by hiring a D.C. lobbying firm while she was the small-town mayor of Wasilla (pop. 7,000)!

Boondoggling taxpayers from New York to Florida to California for hundreds of millions in Federal money, while babbling about “government get out of my way” in the debate with Joe Biden – aren’t those the credentials of a shameless serial liar?

And isn’t this the old “welfare-and socialism”-for-Republicans (and zip for everyone else) –scheme we’ve seen from Cheney and Bush these past 8 years (welfare for big oil and Halliburton, while everyone else foots the bill)?

They’ve been playing this game on us for ages – it’s the same old story of power-hungry Republican politicians serving the big oil companies, and taking a cut of the proceeds for to finance their election campaigns!!!

Does anyone in the country think McCain/Palin have even one honest or Christian word to say about any topic of importance to the American people?

Americans – the future of our country hangs in the balance! In 15 days, we can put an end to this sickening era of Rove-style ploys, stunts, slime, sleaze, and culture wars, and begin the hard work of repairing the immense damage these thieves and scoundrels have done to our country and our people.

However, we must go to the trouble of actually voting! So, people, please vote early, or plan and allocate enough time to vote on Election Day, Tues., Nov. 4th!

Remember, we need a massive turnout of citizens, and a landslide victory, because we know the Republicans will again try to steal this election at the polling stations, just like in 2000 and 2004.

People, find the strength and courage to vote Obama/Biden into office, and return honesty, decency, and integrity to American politics!

By: Mike Mon, 20 Oct 2008 00:54:54 +0000 I don’t like McCain or Palin but, that post by Kay shows what an idiot you are. McCain served this country proudly and never denounced it. It just shows that you don’t know history or simple facts.

By: Jackie Aldridge Sun, 19 Oct 2008 05:50:34 +0000 I understand that the North Vietnamese had a policy of keeping only officers alive. Their theory being that the officers had families that were more likely to influence government policy than those of enlisted. McCain had no say. But it’s Better to be a prisoner of war who lived than a prisoner of war who died.

By: joe phillips Sun, 19 Oct 2008 00:29:08 +0000 Phil 157: Senator Jim Webb and Songwriter Jimmy Webb [Wichita Lineman, Galveston] are not the same person. If you were making a joke… then, cool.

By: Kay Sat, 18 Oct 2008 16:29:56 +0000 Don’t forget that McCain sold America out in Vietnam to save his own life. He let thousands of our soldiers died while he feed secrets to the communist. Country First.. what country?

By: Phil157 Sat, 18 Oct 2008 12:57:45 +0000 Jimmy Webb has written a lot of good music. Perhaps he should leave it at that. Because his comments on this subject raise serious issues regarding his sense. Really, he praised Biden as a choice and was derogatory on Palin? Really? One wonders how these people who are so talented in some areas can be so utterly stupid in other areas.
