eloise are you trying to justify this system?in most cases it is just grabbing as much money as possible to justify them being elected into office,by their districts. when you see unprincipled actions like these,it is a thin end of the wedge that leads to other bad behaviour and eventually fraud, that is why so many are being investigated at present.

I'll bet if you went to each state that the "pork" was going to benefit, they would say that these projects have merit.
We, as a nation, do not move forward without research and development. And as a nice side benne, it employs a bunch of people.
Infrastructure is important too. It sure enhances my life - I like roads, communications, energy, public projects, schools ... Oh, and it employs a bunch of people.
"Pork" has become a four word that the Repubs use to "shock and appall" - a tidbit to keep the base riled up.
Embrace the fact that this money is being spent on the people instead of the socialist money institutions.

I have very limited usage for the Republican Party, but John McCain has to understand that pork is part of the political system...During the years under the Republican Party, Bush never vetoed ZERO bills that he had a chance to cut the pork...

Maybe this is supposed to be "funny" but I have heard of projects just as stupid that were for real. Big question: Is this for real or a "joke"? If a joke, is this what we are getting from our Senators in place of real working projects? I know there must be humor, but the man-hours needed to produce jokes like this are not, IMHO, funny

I am not a huge McCain fan, but he is consistent on pork barrel spending and I am glad he is being vocal about the out of control spending just this year alone, 1.7 billion dollars.

No one can blame George Bush for this fiasco. Obama is doing nothing to help this country survive.
