obviously, some people in the room have never tried to volunteer, if you are not affluent or meet thier educational standards. they make it almost impossible to serve your community. since when did caring about things require a degree. food for thought people!!!!

My friend left is not responsible for the death of 4500 soldiers and 30,000 wounded in Iraq, its the right. Now think what has the right wing politicians given the serviceman for this sacrifice, nothing? I would rather have the left government that gives little but atleast is not involved in killing its own soldiers.

Actually the fact that private insurance companies wouldn’t volunteer to pay for the care of injured servicemen shows how the republicans and big businesses resent the every day serviceman, who gives so much and receives so little in return.

But hey wait, it isn’t the job of private insurance companies to support the injuries given to people as a result of George Bush’s war. This is why we have a veteran’s administration and VA hospitals. It isn’t the fault of private insurance that veterans get screwed over by their own government.

Now some democratic pundit can claim the presidents ability to lead in a bipartisan fashion. I guess with unemployment rising ever so fast some halfwits in Washington figured those out of work had extra time to help out while they lived off their residual income.

More to the point our nation needs a day of national service 365 days a year. And I can’t think of any group more deserving to perform such service than our elected officials. If memory serves me correctly, Congressmen and the President did not get paid at one time. Since most of our Senators are millionaires, they don’t need the money anyway. Let’s start with them. Perhaps we should give all of them the opportunity to volunteer, for their whole term. No pay, no health, care no pension.

Chris is right, these people in Washington are out of touch. Maybe it is time the American people “reach out”. No more Socialism for the elite and Capitalism for everybody else.

obama is big on volunteering, he was going to get the injured soldiers returning home to get their own private insurance to volunteer to pay for their injuries, till he realized that it was not a populous decision with all the other money being thrown down the drain so he quickly dropped the plan.to me it speaks volumes of how the left still resent the every day serviceman,who give so much and receive so little in return.

Surely Obama and the pack of morons in the House have better things to do than come up with this bill. Americans have been involved in volunteering in their communities from the birth of this country. Most communities have more openings for volunteers than there are volunteers. Just more of Washington showing how out of touch with the real world they are. No wonder they are all in government thsy could not make it in the regular world. They would be fired for wasting company time. Now there is an idea
