A Date weekend for Michelle and Barack Obama

April 23, 2010

Barack and Michelle Obama left the kids in Washington and escaped to Asheville, North Carolina, for a quiet weekend at the grand old Grove Park Inn.

OBAMA/Upon landing aboard Air Force One, the Obamas’ motorcade made a beeline for 12 Bones Smokehouse, a popular barbecue place with signs on the wall such as, “We proudly serve pork and pork products,” and “Baby, every time I wake up next to you is an excuse to drink.”

The Obamas chatted with the lunchtime local crowd then ordered up heaping plates of ribs, greens, baked beans, corn pudding, macaroni and cheese and cornbread, all washed down with sweet tea.

Lots of local people lined the motorcade route to the hotel, including a woman who held up a sign that said, “I weeded my garden for the Obamas.”

After a brief stop at the Grove Park Inn, it was time to walk off some of the sumptuous repast. The Obamas took a drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway. They were last seen taking a hike on a mountain trail, at altitude above the 3,000-foot level.

This is not newsworthy unless you want to discuss the taxpayers dollars spent to fund this excursion.

He has golfed more in 1 year than Bush did in 8 years as president. I suspect, if measured on a 1 to 1 ratio, he has also taken more time off than Bush not only after one year, but in 8 years (Once the war started, I don’t think Bush golfed again while he was president).

Ah, but the media is very supportive, and continue to remind us about it, of this president and his vacations, date nights, golf games, you name it. He is getting a free ride while the country burns.

Whatever, it is what it is…

Obama finished his weekend trip at the funeral for the 29 miners who died at the Upper Branch Mine earlier this month, where he spoke to the families who lost their loved ones, their bread-winners. All the bellyaching little troll TyC can do is bitch about the cost. Just STFU, OK?

Excuse me. What about all those trips to Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas?? He was in Texas more than Washington and NEVER really outside of the U.S.!

It’s nice to have a President that takes some time to be an average married person. Taking the time to smell the roses is a healthy attitude, especially when he has more pressures then anyone in the U.S. People like you like to bitch when you expect everything and give nothing of yourself! If you think you can do a better job, than run for the Office yourself! Put up or shut up!

maunaloan.

“People like you like to bitch when you expect everything and give nothing of yourself!”

I will respectfully let that one go because you have no idea what you are talking about and I don’t have to tell you why you are wrong on all counts.”

You missed all I said and immediately went on the offensive against Bush. Also, while in Crawford, he met heads of state continued his duties as president while he was there. You act like Obama is a wonderful guy because he went to a funeral. Well, of course that is a worthy decision, but he, like Clinton funded all his excursions at taxpayer expense and they own nothing. While Bush actually owns his ranch which, again, he continued presidential duties while there.

As for the golf, Obama has factually golfed more in one year than Bush did in eight years. It’s true. So if the country is in such dire straits, then he should concentrate on the country rather than pleasurable pursuits.

Progressives, like you, and the media demonize the republicans and conservatives, while ignoring the sins of your idols.

My point was that there is a double standard and the double standard doesn’t deal in facts. The fact is, Bush continued presidential duties while at his ranch, which he owned. So, in just over one year, I suspect Obama has taken more time off than Bush did in the same point in his presidency. The golfing Obama does supports this assertion.

As for being a troll? I started the comments, but the same person immediately followed me once again and used a vulgarity. Progressives are good at things like that.
