Why should I be surprised the GOP is putting petty party politics over country? They've been sabotaging Obama from day one.

This treaty is so crucial.
Hard to believe it's becoming political fodder.
It has been carefully worked on and agreed to.
The time to ratify is now.

Why this haggling at the eleventh hour when the future of life as we know it on earth could possibly (is!) in the balance?
Please contact your Senators and urge them to work together and support the President on at least this one occassion! I was surprised how easy it was. Thank you.

Republican Senators, led by Sen. Jon Kyl, are deliberately bucking the military leadership of the United States and are playing politics with US national security. Suppose that during the previous administration, the Democrats had opposed President George W. Bush’s efforts to protect airplanes from would-be bombers and had blocked his strategy to keep nuclear weapons out of terrorists’ hands for purely partisan reasons. Republicans would be running ads juxtaposing Democrats with Osama bin Laden, or alleging, as they did then, that Democrats are giving “comfort to America’s enemies.” Yet right now, Republicans are providing the comfort. They are blocking a Senate vote on a treaty with Russia that is critical to securing loose nukes and keeping Iran from gaining the bomb. Republicans have entered a post-post-9/11 era, in which national security is no longer a higher priority than their interest in undermining President Obama.
