I have met Rick Perry. Guy gave me the creeps with his shifty eyes and fake smile. I would no more consider him a man of faith than I would any other televangelist.

A couple of years ago Gov. Rick Perry suggested that perhaps Texas should secede from the union (again)… Maybe they should…. then they can set up their religious right wing government, using the Iran model. Only with pastors instead of mullahs in supreme power…. that’ll work…

To God or not to God?…That is the question.

If you are pandering to your base to garner votes, I’d say that is a pretty good political strategy in Texas and Mr. Perry knows this very well.

It will earn him forgiveness of the Texas budget deficit and his destruction of the Texas public education system.

And this evangellicalism facilitates similar views on a national level from far too many who fail the American standard for the separation of church and state.

Look up Fascism and compare it against the Neo-Con Christian movements in politics and business in America…scary stuff folks! And completely undemocratic.

I hear both sides, and I have tried life without God and with God. God is the only thing that made my life work right, and our country may find its way back to God. Prayer is the place to start. And who ever said that God was limited to Christians. All you Non God people are welcome to leave the United States. You have stomped all over my rights with your freedom of expression.

This violates the First Amendment. There is no question about it.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Jesus is a Christian idea, and by stating that, “As a nation, we must come together, and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles,” Governor Perry has respected an establishment of a religion. He has made no law yet, but he has issued proclamations. As a non-Christian, this does offend me.
