Romney says Obama “is focused on taking away from those that have the least”

April 30, 2012

At a campaign stop today in Portsmouth, NH, Mitt Romney portrayed President Obama as a foe — and himself a champion — of the poor, noting the “greater and greater gap between those that have the most and those that have the least” and accusing President Obama of being “focused on taking away from those that have the least.”

“I want to help everybody, particularly those that are being left behind,” said Romney, who memorably told CNN he’s “not concerned about the very poor” in February. “I want to help the poor. I want to help the middle class get the kinds of jobs that raise their income. Let’s focus on helping the people who need the help the most.”

With Senator Kelly Ayotte — whom Romney has said is on his short list of potential running mates — at his side, Romney told the audience the president was “trying to divert” attention away from the economy “with all the silliness day in and day out.”

“Over these last several days, we have seen this president go across the country and bring up all sorts of extraneous items,” he said. “Everything he can do to distract from the issue that people care about, which is a stronger economy, creating more enterprises, creating good jobs, and raising incomes.”

Wow Romney you support Ryan’s [and the GOP's] budget, which takes away food stamps, medicaid, and assistant housing support to the states. Now who is taking from the poor? You and the GOP are, and giving to the rich in tax breaks, along with the Big Oil Companies

“Charity is no part of the Legislative Duty of Government”
James Madison

Charitable Organizations do a much better job at Charity, taking care of the needy, than any Government agency.
Government agencies cost the Taxpayer too much, often times more than they are worth.

Mitt Romney is such a liar. He will say anything to try to get elected to an office that he most certainly does not deserve.

He is the candidate of the rich and right-wing only.

THIS from the guy who made the state of Mass. 47th in job creation while serving as governor, and laid off thousands of American jobs, shipping jobs overseas, while reaping in HUGE profits at Bain?

Is there NO depth to which this man won’t sink?
Romney Lies.

Romney plans to give the rich a 12% tax cut, and actually INCREASE them on the poor. That is a fact of the Ryan-Romney budget. BTW, it also increases the deficit by trillions over 10 years.

Does anyone read anymore? What about reporting a little context? I saw Romney giving this quote and it included the remarks that the poor already have a safety net. That safety net includes food stamps, medicaid, and other government subsidies. What the Governor was saying is that he is concerned about the middle class because the middle class does not have a safety net.

Saying that Romney is not concerned about the poor implies he is indifferent to their needs. That is not what he said. The point he was trying to make is that there needs to be a safety net for the middle class.

Obama’s policies do not help the very poor.

All presidential candidates say anything to be elected.

Do not forget this man put his hand on the bible and swore to protect the country and its constitution.

Billionaire CEOS don’t need to pay themselves more than a million a year if they don’t want to.

The 1% are apparently middle class business owners who employ 50.2% – 82.9% of the country and create jobs.

Romney is the lesser of two evils and has a history of success..

Obama is a fiscal lunatic.

Obama hates poor people and stomps on kittens. Romney will end poverty and disease and everyone will be happy.
