Fact check: Average teacher salary nation-wide is 44K, not 100K plus as AD suggests. The average salaries of teachers is decreasing as the ranks of teachers are rapidly going into retirement and much lower staritng salaries are entering the averages.
The Golden Apple awards given out annually to outstanding teachers have many NEA member teachers in their ranks.
At the risk of sounding bitter here- I am teacher who is being bullied by the pac of lies in the above AD.
The timing of airing during teacher appreciation week shows a genuine hatred of teachers and a true love ignorance.

This is coming from the same people who say that President Obama is too *African* to be president and that we can save money by just not paying our debts.

As children, when they behaved this way, they were punished by their teachers. This is how Republicans lash out at people who require them to behave like adults.

Wait, wait wait–teachers are the single biggest threat to American society? Wow. I had no idea. Does DHS know this? I’ve been hearing for years that it was Middle Eastern terrorists who hated our way of life, so we had to change how we do everything to safeguard against their attacks. When did it stop being Iraqis and Afghanis and others? I mean, we’re dropping billions and billions of dollars worth of soldiers and bombs on THEM, I just automatically figured THEY were the threat. Again, wow. This changes everything. I guess the plan is to withdraw the troops and start taking out the teachers once the soldiers arrive home? I mean, it makes sense… sort of..except….well, I think we already HAVE a generation of unthinking, mindless children who’ve already grown up and you know what? They HAVE threatened the existence of the U.S. Yeah, they wrecked the economy and everything. Only wait…I’m not sure they were all Democrats…hmmm. I’m going to have to think about this a minute….

Teachers’ unions are the single biggest threat to American society today. Because a nation of unthinking, mindless children will be a threat to the very existence of the United States within a generation. All because of the teachers, who selfishly profit while churning out Democratic, union-supporting voters to be. The government then continues to support the unions, and the dangerous cycle repeats.

Amazing how you lie enough about Unions and you get these ugly remarks, and the current Republican War on Teachers and Education. I believe that they want to destroy teachers so that they can have an ignorant society that blindly votes for them just because they say so.

A sad day for education in this country, and proof that more than ever Unions are needed to protect workers against this war on the working man and woman.

As I watch the war on teachers raging thoughout this country, I am glad I decided not to teach after college.

The charter schools movement is solely about results–stuffing its pockets with taxpayer money. That is its one and only consideration. Then they close down, leaving the students in worse shape than they were in before they started attending that charter school. Please, vote against charter schools and the legislators that support them–they’ve already failed thousands of students and ripped off millions in taxpayer funds. It’s the only way to protect a good public education system.

There are many at fault with the present situation of our education system. Yes, the unions and the teachers should be scrutinized.

When was the last time you saw the U.S. as a country in the top 10 for science, math, reading, or any basic educational requirement. We are loosing at the hands of the teachers and the unions which represent them.

What is wrong with the Right Right wing of the GOP. Teachers have taken pay cuts over the years so that they can continue in educating our children. Is the GOP that afraid that they can’t win the Oval Office without destroying the teachers.

The GOP wants to kill all unions, so they can get by paying the teachers less then, especially 75% of them are women.
