A Biden announcement on Colbert? No way.

The official word is in: there’s no truthiness to the speculation that Joe Biden will tell us if he is or isn’t running for president on Stephen Colbert’s show next week.

No sooner did Colbert announce that he has booked the vice president to be one of his first guests at CBS’ “Late Show” did rumors start swirling of a possible announcement.

Here’s a taste from Mediaite:

Will Joe Biden Announce 2016 Run on Colbert’s Late Show Next Week?

But here’s what Biden’s White House spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff had to say about that:

“No. He won’t,” she responded to a Reuters inquiry.

Not much room left for double-guessing there, but it’s unlikely Biden will escape the question — and for good reason. Senator John McCain revealed his 2008 presidential aspirations to then-host David Letterman on the “Late Show” and so did Senator Bob Dole in 1995.

Biden has been mulling a possible run for Democratic Party nomination, and lots of voters are seeing him as a top alternative to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
