Seen on social: Trump v. Ryan

The Ryan-Trump battle continues to boil. House Speaker Paul Ryan is expected to meet Thursday with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in an apparent attempt to find common ground. Earlier this week, Ryan raised eyebrows when he said he would step down as the co-chairman of the Republican National Convention if Trump asked him to do so.

Party leaders have often disliked their candidates, writes Reuters columnist Matthew Dallek. But the public vitriol of the Ryan-Trump confrontation is something new.

Meanwhile, Twitter users were quick to point to prominent Republicans planning to skip the party’s upcoming convention.
