Quayle crows over Trump

Former presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush say they won’t attend the Republican convention. John McCain is also a no-go. Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney has actively criticized the party’s presumptive nominee. In fact, aside from Bob Dole, Trump has struggled to attract much support from Republicans who have run for national office — until now.

Bush senior’s former Vice President Dan Quayle went on CNBC this morning, where he declared 2016 “the year of the outsider” and said he would support Trump as the Republican presidential nominee:

This is the year of the outsider. And if you want to look about qualifications of being an outsider and being successful, he [Trump] wins.

The news lit up social media Thursday morning, with some Twitter users mocking the spelling-challenged former vice president for, well, you name it:

Like Nader with Bernie, Quayle sees a publicity op with Trump. These guys are getting old and there isn’t too much time left to cash in on their notoriety.
