Trump’s Oreo aversion sparks online intrigue

May 20, 2016

Did Donald Trump double-stuff his foot in his mouth?

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee attended a fundraiser for former rival Chris Christie last night, during which he banned the New Jersey governor from eating Oreos ever again.

“I’m not eating Oreos anymore; you know that. Neither is Chris! You’re not eating Oreos anymore,” Trump said, pointing off-stage (presumably at Christie). “No more Oreos – for either of us, Chris! Don’t feel bad. For either of us.”

Now, in fairness, the comment was made as part of a larger statement on Trump’s ire toward American companies moving production to other countries (watch the video above). Oreo’s manufacturer Nabisco got creamed by both Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton after it announced it would lay off hundreds of Chicago employees in a move to expand production in Mexico.

While Reuters asked Christie’s office to respond, social media were quick to interpret the comment as a dig against the New Jersey governor, long the target of jokes and speculation about his weight:

It even came up during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” (toward the end of the video):

Perhaps Trump meant no offense — that’s just how the cookie crumbles.

I really don’t care, but does the NJ Army National Guard Armory allowed to host a political fund raising event? This already smells like conflict of interest, fraud, waste and abuse using an ANG facility within ANG post. Barring protester by using ANG personnel….hmmmm
