Every now then a city has its moment in the sun, a time when it can bask in the glory of collective American attention, a span when…¬†well, you get the idea.

Now is that time for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, “the city of bridges” where steel was once king.

Why? Because three events this month involving President Barack Obama are intimately connected to Pittsburgh. HOCKEY/

It all starts on Sept. 10 when the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the White House to be hailed by Obama for winning this year’s Stanley Cup, the professional hockey trophy.

Then Obama travels to Pittsburgh on Sept. 15 to speak to the AFL-CIO convention.
