Government Accounting Standards Board meeting in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Tuesday, March 6
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus to host a hearing on tax reform and incentives currently in the tax code for capital investment and manufacturing and their contributions to job creation and economic growth. 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Speakers include:

Tuesday, March 6
D.C. Bar Taxation Section, State and Local Tax Committee luncheon with Jack Trachtenberg discussing his role in the creation of New York State’s Office of Taxpayer Rights Advocate how it studies problems facing the state’s taxpayers.

Tuesday, March 6 – Friday, March 9
The Multistate Tax Commission winter committee meetings to take place in Nashville.

Wednesday, March 7
The House Committee on Ways and Means hearing to focus on how accounting rules cause publicly-traded and closely-held businesses to evaluate tax policy choices differently. A prior hearing focused on publicly-traded companies. This one will zoom in on small and closely-held businesses including S corps and partnerships. 10:00 a.m. in Room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building.

Wednesday, March 7
House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee hearing on President Obama’s proposed 2013 budget for the Office of Treasury Inspector General and Office of Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. Treasury Inspector General Eric M. Thorson and Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George to testify starting at 2 p.m. in Room 2359 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Wednesday, March 7
D.C. Bar Taxation Section, International Tax Committee lunch program on elements of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. Speakers are IRS official Danielle Nishida and Treasury official Michael Plowgian.

Thursday, March 8 – Friday, March 9
National Association of Bond Lawyers two-day institute in Savannah, Ga. including sessions on securities law and tax law. Government speakers will include SEC Commissioner Elisse Walker and John J. Cross, Treasury associate tax legislative counsel.

Sunday, March 11 – Wednesday, March 14
National Association of State Boards of Accountancy conference in San Antonio, Texas.
