Tuesday, Nov. 27  * U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, Majority Whip, speaks on the fiscal showdown and deficit reduction. 11:30 a.m. ET, Center for American Progress Action Fund. Washington.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 * Public Company Accounting Oversight Board open meeting on 2013 budget and strategic plan. Washington.

* Lawyers from the tax division of the U.S. Departments of Justice and the Treasury, as well as the private sector join panel discussion of careers in tax law. 12 noon ET, D.C. Bar Conference Center. Washington.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 – Friday, Nov. 30 * Governmental Accounting Standards Board meeting. Topics include accounting for government combinations and disposal of assets, retirement benefits other than pensions, fair value measurement, and financial guarantees. Norwalk, Connecticut.

Thursday, Nov. 29 * PCAOB chairman James Doty and chief auditor Martin Baumann address the annual auditing conference at Baruch College Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity. New York.

Friday, Nov. 30 * Kentucky state tax amnesty for payment of taxes due between 2001 and October 2011 expires at midnight. .
