The Indian Government needs to look into the current situation where the number of public hospitals are unable to cope up with the increasing population. Poor maintenance issues are just a small part of it. Lack of resources and poor infrastructure result in lives being lost.

The poor medical facilities should be lamented but they also do keep the population in check,, as for any government it would be nearly impossible to provide quality healthcare to over a billion people.

Nita...I always enjoyed your writings. The statistics really look scary and there is an urgent need for all, including NGOs, Government and Corporates to collectively address this situation. The situation should be declared as a national emergency as we are loosing the future citizens of the country.
