It seems as though in mainstream media, regions that are affected by major natural disasters drop from their radars after a few months only to be resurrected if there is another natural disaster or the anniversary of the initial devastation. However this certainly is not an indication that all of the problems they were facing have been solved. Especially in areas with high poverty, recovery takes years. We heard much about the predicted effects of Hurricane Isaac on New Orleans, however there was not much about the effects it would have on Haiti. You have reminded us that there are other regions still in recovery from natural disasters and that recovery is hampered with every passing storm or health pandemic.
