It's something I realized when we tried hiring care-givers when my father was very sick and ailing. Often though the women would take the payment themselves, but the person who ran the 'center' was always calling to find out when the payment was made. I also realized that many of the women, may have been in their just out of economic compulsion, and worked as 'care-givers' only when they were for some reason not working as sex-workers. One of the women lifted her shirt to show me an appendix scar, when I asked her if she was well. Since she would go off to sleep very often. And it was not an appendix scar, it was C-section scar.
