DALLAS - Republican U.S. presidential nominee John McCain is looking ahead to the general election, despite not knowing who his Democratic opponent will be.
The Arizona senator celebrated his victory on 
Tuesday in a hotel ballroom to the tunes of Garth Brooks and the cheers of supporters, who were showered with confetti and colored balloons.
“I want to thank all of you here, all the Republicans, independents, and independent-thinking Democrats, in all parts of the country, who supported our campaign for the nomination and have brought us across the finish line first, an accomplishment that once seemed to more than a few doubters unlikely,” he said.
McCain, 71, told reporters earlier that once he clinched the nomination, he would run a nationwide campaign to win the White House, including putting up a fight in the Democratic stronghold state of California.
“One of the things we need to do is go all over the country, obviously,” he said.
He said his understanding of environmental issues would help him in California, where Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has already endorsed him. Whether Illinois Sen. Barack Obama or New York Sen. Hillary Clinton wins on the Democratic side, McCain is cognizant of the large sums of money his opponents are raising.
“We’ve got a lot of fundraising to do,” he said.

I have not been a McCain supporter from the start, I was for Fred Thompson.
However, the Republican Party now has to come together, and give their Support for the Candidate that has prevailed.
The Democratic Party has Abrogated their Responsibility to get anything Done in Congress and the Senate for many Years now. Just so the could BASH, BUSH! This is Childish and Self, Destructive Behavior that we wouldn’t put up with from our children, let alone our Congressmen and Senators!
It has been and now “IS” past time for them to Pay The Butchers Bill for their Traitorous Actions and Inactions Along PARTY LINES for the Defense of our Borders and the Country. They should Be Held in Contempt and Impeached for the Crime of TREASON With, Allowing and Abetting,the Illegal Alien Invasion of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
Not to mention the Defense and Support of our Troops in Harms way!
They are due to Reap the Consequences of their Actions.
As they Say,”War is Hell!”, and So is the Battle to come for the White House.
They have their Complacency and Coruption along with their Resposibility for the Consequences of their Actions too, as Every other American Citizen would have to Pay and Pay we do with the Blood and Treasure of our Family’s Security along with the Border gaurds incarcerated, and being shot on the Mexican Border.
With our citizens Kidnapped and held for Ransom by the Drug Cartels, Not to mention Terrorizing the Towns and Counties All accross America, Not Just our Southern Border with Mexico.
Therfore, I want Mr. McCain to Reply and The Party to Respond to this “VERY REAL AND PRESENT DANGER” to the Safety and Security of this Nation!
What are you going to do about this Mr. McCain?
