Klaus Kleinfeld joins the Newsmaker

By Peter Rudegeair
February 23, 2011

Our March 1 Newsmaker just got a little bigger. Chairman and CEO of Alcoa Klaus Kleinfeld will now join Dominic Barton and Chrystia Freeland to discuss “Thriving in the New Global Economy.”

Kleinfeld has been at Alcoa since 2007, riding to the top spot at the U.S.’s largest aluminum producer last April. Prior to that, Kleinfeld had a 20-year career at German industrial and electronics conglomerate Siemens AG, including a two-year stint as Seimens’s CEO.

In addition to his day job, Kleinfeld is the chairman of the U.S.-Russia Business Council, a trade group designed to promote trade and investment between the United States and Russia.

Both Barton and Klaus are brilliant observers of global economic trends, and from their perches atop two leading multinational companies, they will have lots of first-hand knowledge to impart. Let us know what Chrystia should be asking them in the comments section.
