You think if dalits participate more in the upper levels of government then suddenly Nepal will have more natural resources and better human capital? And if Uzbeks hire foreign labor rather than making their children pick the cotton, Uzbekistan will become the same as the US? This is the most daft argument I’ve ever heard. It is a shame that Harvard allows such amateurs to become professors. But guess what … there is Nobel prize in your future. I’ve heard other nobel laureate make similar arguments that make no mention of colonialism in assessing reasons for underdevelopment.
