Cillian Kelly sent in a selection of pictures to You Witness this week as he traveled with Irish troops to Chad. Cillian spent five days in Chad, three of which he stayed with the Irish Defence forces in Camp Ciara, just outside Goz Beida.
With monotones and dust obscuring the background in this frame, the young boy running after Irish troops becomes the sole focal point.
This photo from Niall Kavanagh is one of a series on a plane crash in Wicklow county, Ireland. Niall sent in his strong images quickly from this news event and they were sent along to our chief photographer. In this case the images weren’t used on the Reuters wire but Niall put his pictures in a position to be able to be used by sending them in quickly.
This week two separate photographers, Anahit Hayrapetyan and Inna Mkhitaryan, submitted pictures from a mass wedding of some 700 couples in Nagorno Karabakh. It’s not hard to see why this one stood out. Capturing the bride, the groom and the cow, given as a gift to the couple from sponsors of the wedding, in the one frame, Anahit has provided an environmental portrait of one of the newlywed couples.
